Five Months Old

Mary was born at 6:16 p.m. exactly five months ago today. Afterward, I asked Jeff, "how do I go on knowing that I've already experienced the best moment of my entire life and it's over?" I wanted to go back and do it all over again. Fast forward five months. This little girl is such a joy. She is tall and finally starting to get some cute little fat rolls. Her hair is still sporadic, but what she has is growing so long. Her eyes have gone from true blue to hazel. They are so pretty. She is very curious. She loves to learn new "tricks." She smiles all the time. When she gets sleepy or wants to get out of the car seat she cries very loudly and blows bubbles. The problem is that her crying is so cute, it's hard to stop laughing. She picks when and where to hit her milestones. She was tracking with her eyes very early, but she still doesn't chuckle too much. Instead she makes a squawking sound like a parrot. She squeals to hear herself talk and when she's tired and crying says "mamamamamama." Although she doesn't mean me -- or so they say in the books. She thrashes around while eating because she wants to see what is going on. She sleeps with her mouth open and looks like a little angel. It's so hard to believe she's ours. She completes our lives so perfectly. I feel so unworthy sometimes, but so incredibly grateful. We're so Boortzy.
